Sending your documents by post

You must send all documents to our main office in Cardiff. This applies to all companies registered in Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales.

If you do not send your documents to the correct address, your post may be re-directed and will take longer to reach us.

We can acknowledge receipt of documents if you provide a stamped addressed envelope and a copy of your covering letter. This only confirms we’ve received your document - it does not mean it has been registered.

Other ways to file

It’s quicker to file your company’s information online.

You can also upload certain forms to Companies House instead of sending them by post.

If you need to contact Companies House, you’ll usually get a faster response by email.

What information to include

You must include your full company name and number on all documents, with no abbreviations. For example, ‘A Demo Company Limited’ cannot shorten the name to ‘A Demo Co Ltd’.

All documents must be delivered to Companies House in the correct format, or they will be returned to the company (or presenter).

Read the Registrar’s rules and powers for more information.

Delivering accounts

You must deliver your accounts to Companies House by the deadline date, or your company will get a late filing penalty.

You can search for your company’s record to see your filing deadline dates and check that your company’s details are up to date.

Read our guidance on filing your Companies House accounts.

Postal delays

Anyone filing documents at Companies House should understand their legal responsibilities and the duties of being a company director.

You should:

  • be aware that postal and other delivery services may be subject to loss or delay
  • note any industrial disputes or other factors which may make it difficult for a carrier to deliver on time
  • use a guaranteed delivery service when posting close to a deadline

We cannot accept delays in transit as a reason to appeal a late filing penalty.
